I’ve always thought that if I were a boxer, I would enter the ring to the song “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor.
It’s my fight song.
If I could sing, it would be my karaoke song.
I also have a “fight” scripture verse. It’s the verse I pray, say, and hang onto when I’m going “in the ring” with life circumstances. Why do I need one? Hebrews 4:12 says “God’s word is alive and active. Sharper than any two-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
Scripture can be used as a weapon to fight any battle you are facing. And it should be!
The following scripture verses speak to me on many levels and prove powerful.
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:12-13
Let’s break it apart. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.
I know what it is to have true, loyal friends, and I know what it is to be stabbed in the back.
I know what it is to be loved and respected by a man, and I know what it is to be used and discarded.
I know what it is to be in despair, and I know what it is to be full of joy.
I know what it is to make wise decisions, and I know what it is to be a fool.
I know what it is to be in the valley, and I know what it is to be on the mountain top.
I know what it is to be desperate, and I know what it is to be confident.
I know what it is to be understood, and I know what it is to be misrepresented.
Regardless of the situation you find yourself in, Christ will give you the strength you need to endure, overcome, or accomplish it.
I can do all things through Christ is the key to any battle you are facing right now. The only way to do all things through Christ is to give all your things to Christ. Those things are the very issues you are facing. Give them to Him daily in prayer. Choose a scripture verse that you can pray and hang on to when you are facing a time of need.
I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation. What’s the secret? The faith and knowledge in knowing that you can do any and all things through Christ because He strengthens you. He is sufficient. And He can do immeasurably more than you. He created the ground you stand on and the very body your soul dwells in.
Approach God as the great, big, all powerful, loving, wise, holy, worthy, sin forgiving, grace-giving, character refining, peace-providing God that He is!
And just like a boxer takes a fighting stance when entering the ring, you may feel the need to approach God on your knees in prayer or raise your hands in praise to Him. Why? Because sometimes it’s the position a believer takes when she’s asking Jesus to go into the ring and fight for her.
