If you're like me, you like to be given the big picture. You like to know how things are going to go from start to finish. You like to be in control. Maybe it's because we are made in God's image. Maybe it's because God has given us so much to be in control over. We are mothers, fathers, and teachers. We run businesses, houses, and ministries. And in the beginning, he gave us dominion over the things on this earth.
"Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” Genesis 1:26
But even though God gave us control over certain things, he never meant for us to do life a part from him, ahead of him, or above him - Amen. God is sovereign. He is creator. He is the one who sustains us and everything from Heaven to Earth and in between. He is the ruler - first in existence - Alpha & Omega - beginning and end. He is the bookends - we are pages in the book and our life has his penmanship written all over it.
So God has given us a little bit of control, but ultimately he's the one in control. And this little bit of control is of great benefit to us because it allows us to never get too far away from him - our supplier. He's the one who fills us up. Completes us. The all-sufficient one for our souls.
"Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.“ I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:4-5

This is beautiful. I love that he is the book and we are the pages and our life has his penmanship written all over it. So good. He is using us to tell his story. Every person we show kindness to or show a smile to is loving on others and that is who God is. Thank you.
